The Boars Wymondham Attleborough Norfolk
One of the most exciting and interesting pubs and restaurants in Norfolk this is a short history!
Spooner row is a thriving village with a great sense of community. Village life centres aound the church, village hall, school and of course our pub. Right in the centre of the village we are just 3miles from Wymondham and Attleborough and 10 miles from Norwich.
The Boars or "The Three Boars" originally stood on a site next doar to the current building and dates back to the 17th Century. A fire in the original pub destroyed much of the original building and for a while The Boars licence was moved to the smithy next door until a corrugated iron roof was put over the remains of the old house, forming a single storey building. Trade continued in the old premises until a new Boars opened in 1929, `built' by Mrs Routh Clarke of the Wattlefield estate, was completed alongside. The original building with its corrugated roof can still be seen next door to the current pub.
The Boars which has also been known as The Two Boars has changed ownership many times and been let by various breweries. Tony and Ruth Yeoman are now the owners after 15 years as tenants and having seen their children grow up in the village.
